A Short Walk Over The Roaches

A short, windy walk on Five Clouds

Yesterday we went for a walk at my favourite place, The Roaches. Knowing that it would be windy up here, I didn't take my proper camera. It's usually windy up here, but yesterday was particularly bad, and I didn't want to risk dropping my dSLR! So I took a handful of photos on my phone.

No matter what the weather, I love it here - although I prefer it when it's sunny, warm, calm and dry! I don't know why, but I feel such a strong connection with the landscape around me when I'm here. I could stand or sit up here for hours, just watching the world go by.

You can click any of the photos to enlarge them!

As you can see, Anneka and I were getting a little windswept! The next photo is of the view, looking towards Bosley Tower. The tower (which is more correctly called Sutton Common BT Tower) is a radio communications tower, which currently transmits a couple of local radio stations. Sitting on top of Croker Hill, it was originally designed to be a backbone communications link in the 1950s - one which could survive nuclear war! You can see it if you click on the photo - it's the taltest object on the horizon, and sits almost dead centre.

Just one last photo of the trig point on Five Clouds.

It's always really good to be up here, and I'm really looking forward to going back on a brighter day! On a clear day, free of haze, you can see Snowdonia National Park!
